DIY Baby Footprints Heart | Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! While this year marks 12 Valentine's Days together, we're opting out of the typical chocolates, flowers and dinner. Instead we've decided to invest in ourselves and get each other a bowflex.

But... It still wouldn't be Valentine's day without a little something. So, I insisted we celebrate some DIY heart footprints from the little man.

This project was definitely a family affair. First, I placed Parker's feet on the ink pad while the hubs held him. Then he lowered him into position so I could place the little feet. We then did the other foot the same way. I then got out my stamp set and wrote out i love you, and improvised for the period with the tip of a pen.

I just need to buy a frame and our perfect little Valentine has delivered us the best present of all! Happy Valentine's Day - I hope your spoiled with the time of family and friends who love you and maybe a little keepsake like the one above to remind you what matters most.

Valentine's Day Favorites!

I'm back... from vacay that is! We finally went through with it and took off for a vacation to South Carolina. While I get all of the pics off of my camera and some work done around the Etsy Shop, I thought I'd share a few Valentine's Projects I'm loving... well, because it's almost here!

Of course, my last year's projects are perfect for any last minute ideas you need! Like these free printables...

And this cute banner made from old newspaper... great to do with little ones as well!

And because it can't all be about me, here's a few I have found and love this year. (Of course I probably won't get around to making them... but it's nice to keep them in mind for when the little guy gets bigger)

Well, except this one. I was really hoping to do something like this this year... we'll have to see what the week brings.

chicken scratch.

And this is way too cute. I can't wait to put together Valentine's when Little P gets older. There are so many good ideas out there!

And of course, this even cuter Valentine's Day Banner. This is just way too cute for a little girls room.

simple as that.

Alright... I'm getting back to work - well my kinda work that is. Watch in your email for this month's newsletter (you can sign up here) - you won't want to miss the great price changes I'm making to the Etsy Shop. While I was away I made a to do list and even came up with a new product. Hint - I went out and bought a sewing machine for it.

Stay tuned. The hubby's off for a couple of more weeks and I'm getting down to business.

Free Valentine's Day Printables

After creating the Valentine's Day banner a couple of weeks back, I decided maybe a few photo cards would look nice too. Only this time, I decided to print them off and use them as decor.

See how cute they look? I set them next to this teddy bear that the hubby gave me back when we were first dating. He is my absolute favourite. You may notice the band-aid and yellow stains, he actually survived a bad house fire we had when we first moved in together. I couldn't get rid of him, so now he sits reminding of us of everything we have to be thankful for, including each other.

Okay, enough of the sappiness. Here are a three {yay!!} free Valentine's Day printable designs that you can use for photo cards, regular cards or even photos around the house to decorate.

DIY | Valentine's Day Banner

I'm not one for Valentine's Day... Okay I kinda am. But, the hubby considers it a Hallmark Holiday and prefers to surprise me because he wants to, not because someone said he should. So usually we decide to go out for dinner and find something we both want. Last year we went to San Francisco and called it our Valentine's Day present. This year, we are going to Niagara Falls for a week and having a seafood cookout the night of. I'm completely okay with this. :D

While we may celebrate Valentine's Day a little differently, I decided a little banner project would still look cute. I didn't want to go all out, so I did it with things from around the house and it cost me $0. After putting it together, I thought how cute, I think I'll share. :o)

you'll need.

scrap cardboard
hole punch

here's what you do.

1. Draw a heart on the scrap cardboard
and cut it out so you can trace it.

2. Trace hearts onto newspaper and cut them out.
(Leave newspaper folded to cut more at once.)

3. Glue three hearts together so that they are thicker.

4. Punch two holes in hearts - one at the top of each side.

5. Twist together string and feed it through the holes.
(I used hemp and embroidery thread.)

6. If desired, tape string to the back of hearts to keep them in place.

VOILA! Valentine's Day Banner complete.

There you have it. I completed my first holiday banner and on a budget - zip, nil, zero dollars! It doesn't get any better than that and it looks absolutely adorable above my working space:
