A Dresser for a Vanity | I Need Your Help

Alright, so we ended up buying a dresser to use as a vanity in the bathroom renovations. The problem is I'm stuck - remove the top and build a thicker one, what colour should I paint, should I keep the handles?

Here's what it looks like:

Here's the sink we're going to be using:

And here's where I'm sitting with decisions.

Knobs
I think I'll keep the knobs - who can compete with those big wooden things - perfection! I will either paint them the same colour as the dresser or white and I'll sand them a bit to show wood through.

Dresser/Vanity Top
As for the top, I'd like to say I'll keep it, but should I sand it and stain it again? Different colour?

Dresser/Vanity
Oh and the vanity itself. I'm looking for a punch of fun... here are a couple of colours I was thinking... what do you think? (You can see the floors in the second picture and we'll be keeping the same grey walls and adding white wainscotting)

misted fern or aegean teal. via.
And pretty much most of these. via.

Or, maybe one of the other many colours I have pinned over on my paint. board? Go dark or go light? How much colour is too much? And did I mention, I think I'm going to add a punch of colour in the laundry closet too?

What do you think I should do... I'm stuck!

Cozy.Cottage.Cute | Another Great Blog

I've stumbled upon another great blog - Cozy.Cottage.Cute. Actually I have a list of them I'm waiting to share, but I couldn't resist this one. I love the way she writes, in fact, I have writer's envy... and her about us page is to die for, it definitely has me reconsidering mine!

Enough rambling... okay not yet... I've just started perusing and something keeps bringing me back to this dresser she created with numbers on it. It's absolutely adorable and I think it would look great in my office space for storage.

Isn't it adorable? Here's the before and after...

Oh, before I forget... in other news, if you haven't seen my Facebook posts... the earrings are nearly ready. Okay, they are... I just need to take some pictures and post them on the etsy shoppe! Are you as excited as I am?

The Dresser is Sold!

Okay, you know the dresser I asked you about painting a couple of months back (what oh what color should I paint?)... well it's SOLD! In all honestly, I just didn't think it looked right in our new house. The decor is completely different - modern - and I believe it should go in a house that suits it.

bye, bye bonnet chest.

Lucky for me, and the dresser, the new owner comes from an old stone home filled with antique furniture. His passion is collecting pieces that suit the home and investing in "real" furniture that gets more valuable with age. The reason I say real because it seems that most furniture these days is pressed board or veneer and doesn't last any longer than five years.

The sad part about losing my first antique treasure is that he confirmed that it is in fact from the 1890s, if not earlier. He also confirmed that they are very hard to find. So, while my good eye caught me a piece of history at a busy auction one Friday evening, it will now be treasured and loved even more by someone else. My investment back then turned out to be a good one and I am happy to say I didn't take a loss and your much sought after advice didn't go unnoticed. I want to thank everyone who offered up their colour suggestions - no worries, it will still be used. I have another dresser in the basement that I picked up for free... it needs to be finished and I'm pretty sure I've finally decided on the perfect paint colour. :o)

I Have to Make this DIY Dresser

Once again, you've caught me on Pinterest and I've found this amazing DIY dresser! Thanks to A Charming Nest my husband just got another thing added to his to do list.

Believe it or not, you start with a $40 Rast dresser from Ikea and transform it into the above. You definitely must checkout the process here.

Meanwhile, new countertops and closet doors have been picked up and are starting to be installed. I apologize for the lack of posts this week. I'm hoping to tell you all about last weeks pin attempt tomorrow, where we completely swapped out ingredients to fix my hubbies sweet tooth!
